Heat is my best friend...

...indeed.

Peace Fam!!!

It is brick cold here in The Rock...and there is no heat in our building! For whatever unjustifiable reason, I am still freezing.

Heat is my best friend; anyway I can take it: hot shower, hot tea, hot soup.

I can now see why so many people choose to lower their raw ratio during the winter months, granted their King or Queendom is nice and warm. Last night we had ice on the inside of our windows from the condensation!

Today I made the two block trek to the store and picked up some fruit for smoothies in the morning but tonight I'm making some vegan empanadas (mmmm!), and tomorrow my brother is coming through whom I haven't seen in about 6 years and I'm throwing down some Vegan Cuban black beans, yellow rice and plantains just for the occasion. Aside from that I'm looking to consume as many raw fruits and salads as my cold body can withstand.

I'm eager to find out from others how they maintain their raw lifestyle in the winter.

Peace!

I feel for everybody up North and mid-West. I see that Winter is not playing with you all. I'm glad you're doing what you need to do to keep warm. Although, I'm not 100% raw or even trying to be 100%, I do believe that you should do what works for you and your body. Given the climate, it's necessary. I recently went to a raw foods meetup group and the raw foods chef mentioned this very thing. One of the things that I like about her and others I've met is that they continue to say how it's okay to be raw at whatever level you're at. I appreciate that! I've met enough judgemental folks! Anyhoo, she reminded us that it's okay to warm your food (that it's actually best for your body instead of cold) no more than I believe 112 to 115 degrees. That way, it's still warm and you haven't killed any enzymes. Hope this helps! I apologize for writing a book.
Oh, I may want some of those recipes. That food sounds good!
Take care....

C'BS Alife Allah: if you have any recipes to share, I'd love to try them. =)

Orchid: That is very true. I've come across a lot of dogmatic raw folks and it is such a turn off to want to interact with them at all. I think I will make a veggie soup tonight, since some vegetables are better asorbed by heating to some degree. Maybe a veggie lentil soup will be on the menu tonight. Thanks for the creative spark! xoxoxo
